Life Quotes: “Perhaps as our culture seems to be increasingly more challenging, it may help to think of hope as the complete opposite of despair. Hope is not optional for the believer. Our hope is secure because, as we all say again, ‘Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!’”
Life Thoughts in the Church Year: Lethal measures like abortion and assisted suicide claim to express autonomy, but they really embody surrenders to death. Jesus Christ, sacrificed and arising again, liberates from submission to this ultimate enemy (1 Corinthians 15:26). Neither we nor our neighbors need equate human worth with length of days or lack thereof (Isaiah 65:20). Who will tell them? Why not us?

In this week's lesson Jesus takes His inner circle—Peter, James, and John—up on a mountain. There they see Jesus in His heavenly glory as Moses and Elijah appear alongside Him, discussing His upcoming departure. In his excitement, Peter offers to build three tents so they can remain on the mountaintop. Suddenly, a cloud—a sign of God’s presence—appears and a voice speaks out from it: “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!” (Luke 9:35).
Calling all volunteers!!! VBS will be here before you know it, and we can hardly wait to have you join us for the week of July 14-18 from 8:00-12:00! VBS needs as many volunteers as possible to make it a success! The sign-up sheet is available in the Narthex on the credenza. Snap up your preferred station before it’s gone! Thinking that you only have a couple of days that you can volunteer, or have questions? No worries! Just talk to Megan Schneider so she can answer your questions or work you into the volunteer line-up for as much time as you have available!
Mission and Volunteer:
If you are looking for a way to serve the church? We need help with the altar duties. The sign-up sheet is on the table in front of the Bible Study Room.
There are many ways that we are able to serve the Lord. One way is to serve as either an usher or a greeter. It takes just a moment of your time, but means so much to our members. Thank you to all who signed up to be a greeter. All months have been filled. There is however, still a need for ushers. Sign up today and take an active part in this minstry here at St. John.
Please don’t forget, we are always collecting pull tabs and aluminum cans. The funds from our efforts aid various outreach programs.
Blood Drive! St. John is considering hosting a Blood Drive on in April 2025 right after church. We need 20 participants. Please tell pastor and he will sign you up so we can move forward with OBI. It’s called “Donor Cares.” Each donation will result in a $15.00 donation to St. John. Please help us have a super successful Blood Drive.

THANK YOU!
Giving opportunities. St. John Lutheran now has several ways to give your offerings. You can select GIVE on the top menu bar or down below at the bottom right of each page on this website. Of course you can still give by using your giving envelope for 2025 and we also still have electronic giving.
We will be serving meals to Family Promise starting today, Sunday, March 23 through March 29. We will need to provide one meal per day which needs to consist of an entrée, 2 sides and a dessert. The meals can be divided up such as one person providing the entrée, another person providing one of the sides and etc. We have placed sign-up sheets on the credenza by the front of the office. At this time there are 9 adults, 2 teenagers, 4 children and 2 toddles. No allergies. If this changes we will let you know. Please have the meals to Family Promise by 4;45 p.m.
The church directory was a wonderful success. Although there are some families that did not get to take their picture do not worry we have you covered! We will be having a picture make up day. Our make-up day will be Tuesday, April 1st from 2 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and remember you get a free 8x10 picture. If you have any question call Sandra at the church office 580-353-0556. We have to have 10 sittings to be able to keep our date.
